Dear All,
Has anyone installed a red beacon or flasher in the fiberglass fairing on
the Rebel/Elite vertical stab? There's not much space up there -- maybe
2-1/2" diameter -- and I haven't been able to find anything in the aviation
supply catalogs that will fit.
Appreciate any advice here.
I finished cutting down the elevator ends, and it came out quite nicely,
thanks especially to Sean White's very helpful guidance.

Flasher/Beacon
flasher/beacon
Jeffrey,
Whelan makes a self contained 12 volt flasher that is available red,
red/white, and white. It is small enough to fit on top of the Elite
vertical fin fairing. I made an aluminum bracket that fits tight to the
bottom of the fin fairing with nutplates to firmly mount the flasher.
(Didn't trust mounting just to the fiberglass) Wires run down in an
aluminum tube wireway in the front of the fin and penetrate the fuselage
top just forward of the fin through a grommet. I did run shielded wire
to minimize radio interference.
Let me know if you can't find the p/n in the Spruce catalog and I will
get it.
Regards, Ralph Baker

flasher/beacon
Thanks, Ralph!
I was hoping for something a little cheaper and with less power draw than
that certified Whelen unit. I ran 18 ga. wires back through the fuselage
thinking I might someday add a flasher mainly for docking operations.
By the way, did you cut down the vertical stab spar to match the top of the
rudder, or did you wind up building a fiberglass cap for the top of the
rudder to level with the stab's fairing?
Best wishes,
Jeffrey
