Well I completed the first side of the horizontal stab modifications today.
The instructions from MAM will cause problems if you plan on installing sea
fins at some point, since they have you putting a whole bunch of RV-1410
rivets in the tip rib... your sea fin isn't going to lie flat with these
here. When I was talking with Robin about this he mentioned that the
factory demonstrated had started smoking rivets pretty quickly once they
mounted the sea fins, and that another builder had used some 1" by 1/8"
angle to tie the tip rib to the stringers to beef things up. I took this
idea one step further by running my angle from the top to the bottom skin,
tying both stringers and the tip rib together. I used two of these angles
with blind nuts on them on the front two stringers. A third pair of blind
nuts is about an inch in front of the spar attached to the rib and stainless
doubler.

I took a number of pictures while I was doing this today, you can see them
with more details here... http://n195ak.dcsol.com/viewtopic.php?p=84#84

Mike-------- Great timeing. We're just going to start on that mod to our stab.
Great pictures, helps a lot as MAM did not send any instructions with the sea fin kit.
A picture is worth 10,000 words. Thanks for posting.
