Thanks for posting Mike! I'm still here and checking my mail...just not up
to sitting long periods or much typing. I'm attaching the same letter I
wrote my sister on Sunday night to avoid a lot of emails wondering what's
what and having to type continuously. Hopefully I can get back at it by the
weekend and I dearly need to get back into the shop to get Howard's rebuild
completed... so I will have time to get my amphibs mounted by spring. My son
Daryl and I left the hospital in seperate vehicles, after visting my wife on
Saturday afternoon. Daryl went one way and I went another...and about 5
blocks later I was rammed from behind by a drunk driver (5 times) and
returned to the same damn hospital by ambulance.
Cheers guys...hug someone you love!

Leah is out of HDH as of 2Pm today (Sunday). To be checked up on by my buddy
Rob (Dr. Helt) and Riener Louiskendal (Dr.) that lives next road over. They
released her before the nurses killed her. One nurse last night would have
gave Leah the suicidal women in the next rooms lithium last night if Leah
hadn't been paying attention! She's still not breathing as good as she could
be and throat still sore. 50mg of Prednisone a day for another week.
As for me. Sorer today than yesterday. Nothing broken (that aware of - no X
rays taken), but back muscles are really sore from kidney area up to
shoulder blades. I always have my headrest higher then my head so that saved
me there. I was doing about 55KMPH when the first hit actually lifted the
back of my truck off the ground and threw me forward. Second hit I thought
maybe the guy had a stuck gas pedal. Third and fourth hit I looked in my
mirror and thought the driver was dead and a vehicle runaway, and on the
fifth I locked up the brakes and held him in place. He sat there smoking the
tires and then tried to back up (onto the guys Ford Focus hood) just as
another guy he had hit blocked him in and ran up to his passenger door and
pulled the keys. Off duty OPP pulled up on the outside in his car and was
good to see that uniform. OPP and myself held the guy in his truck while the
other guy called Midland police. Then took the three of us (OPP, Midland cop
and myself) to drag the guy off the steering wheel/out and get handcuffed.
Scary part...baby seat in back of his truck!
Did my statement last night from 8 to 9PM. Turns out the guy has a rap sheet
the length of his arm. Already had his drivers license suspended FOR LIFE
before this happened. He hit a least 6 vehicles driving thru Midland and the
phone calls to police started way out by Oro/Medonte (half way to Barrie).
He just kept hitting people and pushing them out of the way. The police are
thanking me for having a large enough truck and the smarts to retain him and
the other guy for getting his truck shut off. Who knows how many people this
guy would have killed if he had of got any further up the street. At this
point he has over 15 charges against him. I released my medical records from
Emerg so they can add Impaired causing injury. They are trying to find a way
to charge him with attempted murder X as many people as he hit. The Midland
Police have never seen anything like this and don't know how he didn't kill
anyone. He ran all the red lights down the main shopping street of Midland
on a Saturday mid afternoon before ramming two other cars on Bay St and
Fourth St and then me. They are also going to charge his common law wife,
that owns the truck, for allowing him access to the vehicle when she knows
he was under life suspension from driving. Of course it's most likely they
have no insurance coverage...so we all get to suck the hind teet on that
one!
Hope you're having a better weekend!!
