Hello!

To those who have choose to go with a tube all across the wing (in the leading edge) instead to go across the strut: How did you go across the root rib/rib doubler? Do you cross just the wire or if you cross the tube? In a grommelt? Did you make a little doubler (like a ring) to compensate for the weakness create by the hole?

I have made little angles that are riveted on the front leading edges ribs to receive the tube clips. The metal/plastic covered clips that I found at the autoparts stores didnt impress me, heavy and plastic look a bit brittle and the and the stud size is 1/4"! Still the nylon ones, are they ok? Light, corrosion resistant... or I will do some with aluminium strip which are betters?

Pitot tube: best place? Which size/type of tubing should I use, plan to attach it to the plastic tube (for wiring) with tieraps... is it ok? I am doing the final assembly of the wing (with primer and the wonderful proseal) so it is the good time for those question..

I took mine down the LE to the strut attach point, where I installed a
terminal block on the front of the spar, then I took the wires down the
strut to another terminal block on the door post. Pitot line also goes down
the strut.

The front wing attach fittings leave very little room for any kind of
protective cover on the wires at the root LE.

Wayne answered a couple of these questions a few months ago but I didn't find
that post on my first search attempt. I'm using a 3/4" aluminum tube in the
LE section and made little aluminum tabs to hold it. These tabs are flat,
with a 3/4" + hole for the wire tube, and I riveted one tab to every other LE
rib. I used proseal to glue the tube to the tabs. (I would hedge against
tie-wraps, or plastics in general, because although they last a long time,
they do get brittle with age.) I cut a 3/4" hole in the root rib+doubler.
Wayne said to put 5 or 6 rivets around the circumferenc of that hole to bind
the root rib+doubler strength there. Then, yes, a grommet to protect the
wires. I didn't run my wire tube right up to the root rib hole so will need
to fish just a little when that time comes. Also, I glopped a little proseal
around the ends of the wire tube to protect from chafing the wires.

The suggestion for pitot line in here was to either cut a hole in the wire
tube for insertion of the line near where the pitot ends up being installed,
or, feed the pitot line down the small D section in front of the LE spar. I
postponed this till building the left wing, but at first thought it seems it
could be difficult to fish the pitot line in whatever hole is made in the
wire tube, either first time or if required by maintenance later.
