MAM firewall forward

Mike,
We purchased the MAM kit for our O-360 Elite and I probably would not do
it again. It is reasonably complete and does save researching and
multiple orders, certainly so if you build exactly as MAM intended.
However it is "experimental aircraft" and I have a severe case of
"modificitis", although not in the Sam/Sandi Archer league.

In order to improve the end result we used the Van's baffle kit (worth
it!), Van's larger oil cooler, Andair gascolator, Van's carb airbox and
filter, Van's air intake snout (better airbox match), Glassair cabin
heat box (adds defrost), Van's carb/sump throttle cable plate, Van's
throttle cable, and ACS detented carb heat cable. Each of these things
will add to the longterm utility of the Elite but has resulted in a
stash of unneeded parts and tied up cash.

The final proof will be in the flying operation which should take place
this Summer. At this point I would make all of the above changes again.

PS - To anyone comtemplating the Van's carb/sump cable mounting plate,
the mixture attach point is too close to the firewall to allow a
reasonable bend to the plate attach point. We will cut it off and make
other arrangements. The Van's throttle cable dimensions will work with
the plate and MAM O-360 mount, I don't believe the ACS throttle cable
will work.
