Spring Gear saddle brackets

Hi!

I measured the spring gear saddle brackets (SG2 or 4, I think). These are
the pieces of metal that sandwich the spring gear at the outermost
attachment points. There is only 3/8" between the center of the pre-drilled
hole and the edge. This time the stress encountered would be in that
direction (for the rear bolts) and I again am concerned about edge distance.
If I put a 3/8" bolt there, it would normally need 3/4" ED.

Tell me one more time, "It's okay, Dan."

Thanks,
Dan

"I think its OK Dan"

By drilling out that hole to 3/8" you only reduce your edge clearance by
1/32 of an inch. ( all the fairings are on my aircraft, I can't confirm
whether your measurements are the same as mine or not.)

Most of the loads here are directly up with the weight of the aircraft and
direct pull down at the front with braking loads.

I could be corrected here but I believe the Elite uses the same parts here
but has a 3/8" bolt. ( thats what I understood Muphy told me anyway)

Cheers

Alister
