corner bracket in the wing?

Hello!

At the root rib location, I have done the 2 corner bracket as per the manual to close (try to) the space between the spar and the rib. Not as easy as they show in the manual (at least for me!).

For the outboard solid rib, the manual say to mount it to the inside of the rib, but there is already a bolt in that area (spar cap bolted to the spar) and the manual have said to put it with proseal (the first step of the wing construction!?!!!). What should I do: cut the bracket to let the bolt head go across it, $%&?"$%? the already proseal bolt to pass it across the bracket at the same time as the spar and the spar cap? The W/$%?/$%/% manual!!!! By the same time, where the stringer pass trough the outboard solid rib, I have to put a angle and cut the stringer shape across it? What do you use to make it? a dremel? Please confirm me that I not completely stupid and that the manual as others saya before me, should be redone by a good "teacher for less thand good student"!!!!

Hi Jean: I ran into the same problem and removed the bolt, drilled the
bracket to accept it and re-prosealed the new assembly when assembling the
wing the final time. The bracket in the stringer area, I traced the shape of
the stringer on it and drilled a series of holes along my line and finished
it with a small carbide bit in a dremel tool. You also have to cut away the
top the width or slightly wider then the stringer so the stringer can be
pulled up tight to the tank skin when assembling. Hope this helps. - Bob

Hi Jean

I don't think the corner brackets are critical at all.. Put them on the
outside or the inside, or both, whatever seems easy. The manual is just
trying to give you some hints. I did put most of mine on both sides. It
is lots of proseal that is going to seal things. Don't worry about
making the brackets fit tightly as I think you want a little bit of
space (1/32 to 1/16 ??) for the proseal to ooze through. That allows for
a little flexing/movement without breaking the seal. I think the area
most prone to leak is where the top stringers exit the tank, probably
because gravity tends to pull the proseal away after putting the tank
top on. Lots more details about tanks and proseal are in the archives
but keep asking questions if we can help.

I did not remove the spar cap bolts when I did mine. Yes a dremel or
thin files helps for the pieces that go around the stringers.
