Moose wing tanks and hinges, was RE: Ryan's Moose

Jim,
Roughly 10 gallons per bay. The original Super Rebel was 30 gallons per
side I believe. The advertised "extended" are now 5 bays not 6 anymore.

My wings were fast build and I couldn't find the drawing in the manual
showing the hinges but it is 5. The flap and aileron share the center
hinge.

Hi Ryan, I wanted to thank you for your hospitality on Tuesday and once
again I'm sorry for the short notice but as you know I didn't know when
I could get away from the conference.
The airport in Abbotsford was great and the weather was certainly better
than Ontario.
I'm sure that you get lots of visitors since you're so close to the
factory and they don't have a demo.
Your Moose is quite impressive and it was a pleasure to meet you. If you
would like me to post a photo from the video I shot let me know. I also
hope to be able to post a short video clip on my web site early next
week for those who are interested in hearing that "round engine" fire up
and seeing the Moose taxi to the fuel pumps. (If anyone in the group
would like an 'WMV" file e-mailed to you directly let me know off line)
It certainly got my adrenaline going!

Looking at the finished plane raised a couple of questions for me though
and made me wonder if my manual is really out of date.
- my manual calls for 4 hinges on the rear spar (unless I'm reading it
wrong) and Ryan clearly had more than that on his wing? Is my manual an
old one or what?
- the manual also calls for 3 bays of the wing to be wet - with the 4th
rib being a 173 and the end of the tank. It really doesn't seem to be 40
gallons.? I could still go one more bay without getting into the strut etc.

Cheers
Jim Cole
