Hello everybody

The work on my wing is very but very fun! A question:

In the manual, they do not talk about the wiring... Should I have do some
now before close the wing or evrything can be do after? Should I install
some tubing across the nose rib and how?

Hi Jean !

Good advice from Ralph - it does work best to run the wiring up
inside the wing strut, along with the tubing for the pitot. By all means,
install a pipe to carry the wires - whether metal or flexible plastic
is your choice...

For some reason, Mr. Murphy does not like the idea of wiring
running up inside the leading edge ! The nose section of the wing
forms a "D" tube, which is a large part of the strength of the wing -
maybe he felt the holes in the nose ribs would weaken it - I don't
know.... But - it might be best to run the tube for the wires
BEHIND the middle spar. There's certainly lots of room to work
there !

You could run the actual wires now, or just run a piece of
heavy twine or rope to pull wires through later. It's a good idea
to leave a rope there anyway, in case you want to add or
replace wires later. As Ralph said, put in all the wires you might
need - if you use the Fife wing tips, you will need wires for the
landing lights that are in the tips, as well as the nav & strobe lights.

I would suggest the 3 light Aeroflash combination strobe
& nav lights, with the white light at the rear, so you'll be legal for
night without an extra light on the tail (although a tail light
& strobe is not a bad idea !). The Aeroflash unit looks cleaner
than the Whelan, and costs considerably less. It also has
the power-packs in the wing tip, instead of in the fuselage
like the Whelan. With the pack in the fuse, you are running
very high voltage all the way out to the tip - this can add a
LOT of radio noise !! The only down side is that the Aeroflash
may not be quite as bright as the Whelan ..

Keep rivetting - IT'S WORTH IT !!! :-)

Thanks Bob and Ralf,

If Darryl don't like to the idea of a tubing in the leading edge, behind
the main spar mean across the gas tank.... I do not like that idea....
May be in front of the rear spar behind the gas tank bulkhead? I am a
"visual" and my wing wing is all close (by cleco) so it will easier later
this week when I will remove the skin but what have been done by other
builders up to now?

If you run the wires up the wing strut, they can then go behind
the spar from there to the wing tip - you are past the fuel tank at
that point.

It's best to run the wires down the strut (with quick-disconnects
at both ends) along with the pitot lines, because they then come into
the cockpit down at the bottom, in front of the cage tubes. It's a LOT
easier to run them from there up behind the panel, than trying to
thread them along the wing root, around the cage, and down !!

I've used the clear plastic tubing like the fuel guages (Canadian
Tire) - it's flexible, so easy to thread in, and you can see the

Does anyone know is there supposed to be conduit on the fast build Moose
wings for the wiring??? I have e-mailed Murphy several times no answer.

Hi Jean !

If you run the wires up the wing strut, they can then go behind
the spar from there to the wing tip - you are past the fuel tank at
that point.

It's best to run the wires down the strut (with quick-disconnects
at both ends) along with the pitot lines, because they then come into
the cockpit down at the bottom, in front of the cage tubes. It's a LOT
easier to run them from there up behind the panel, than trying to
thread them along the wing root, around the cage, and down !!

I've used the clear plastic tubing like the fuel guages (Canadian
Tire) - it's flexible, so easy to thread in, and you can see the

wires.....

hope it isn't PVC ! :-)
