I'll see if I can find out what the carrythroughs are made from to match up
if
possible.
As far as chromating, I recall a similar proceedure when capping the torque
tube
and putting on the collar there. I put on a couple thin coats and much of it
was
scraped off after I slid them on. In fact they wouldn't fit the first time,
so I
removed the chromate and filed down the inside until it fit a bit looser.
Then I
chromated and inserted.
So here's a scenario that could happen: mill the inserts accurately to
~.005"
larger than the opening. Apply chromate. Now it won't fit, so I file it down
so
it will and in the process lend the accurate milling as wasted $.
I would think that wet or dry, the coating would be scraped off in several
places upon insertion, especiall when this fit sounds like it'll be tighter
than
the torque tube.

This is the ONE time when you want both the inside of the tube, and the
insert coated & dry BEFORE assembly - if you do it wet, there could be
some contact.
