Hi Barny,

We had the same question. SO ... we did not attach the aft end of the
spring(s) to the structure where shown in the manual. Instead we elected to
install an adjustable "system" Very simple. We used a 1/4 " eyebolt with the
eye attached to the aft end of the spring and the threaded end going through
a hole made in the web of the carrythrough just aft of the control column.
The holes, one for each spring, in the web were drilled 1" inboard of the
rudder cable holes and at the same level. The eyebolts were threaded their
entire length. From memory, a scary thing, I THINK the eyebolts where 4" and
6", two different lengths required because of the offset rudder horns coming
through the floor. Have not yet fine tuned the tension but by running the
nut up or down the eyebolt treads you get to adjust the tension. AND yes
they are just ordinary hardware store grade ... Oh my goodness ... Actually
Randy and I didn't like the idea of the eyebolts being hardware store grade
... but we are over it now.
