Happy New Year to you all!
I have a question on the tailwhell anchor assembling.
I understand from the manual that FUS 49 (tailspring bulkhead) should
be installed in parallel (4 3/4" distance) to the fin's rear U channel.
Next step is to attach FUS 85 and FUS 87 to FUS 49, guaranteeing a
snug fit between FUS 87 to the Tail Wrap (FUS 30). With this
configuration the botton part of FUS 87 will NOT be flat to FUS 30 and
therefore later on when attaching the 3/8" tailwhell spring attaching
bolt will not NOT be square to FUS 30.
Murphy suggests to sand FUS 87 untill the contacting surfaces have a
snug fit but there is NOT sufficient material in FUS 87 to form the
required angle. The manual shows FUS 87 with a much thicker botton
(figure 12.6.4) which, of course, would permit a to sand to the
required angle.
Am I missing something here? I am thinking in making an additional
packer to permit the correct fit but would very much appreciate to have
your views before any change to the manual.
Many thanks for your usual help
