Mounting floats to your Rebel - FUS-42 Dimension Cautions !

To add to this I took some measurements today while I worked on CYP's
rebuild...... so nobody is scratching their heads as to which FUS-42's they
have.

The very original FUS-42 had all the predrilled holes in line following the
curve of the part and the holes interfered with the flange cutouts. Distance
from the center outside rivet hole to the strut mouting hole approx 15/16".

On the corrected (old) FUS-42-1 (with staggered predrilled holes) the
distance from the center outside rivet hole to the strut mounting hole is 1
& 5/16"

On the newer FUS-42-1 (that is being shipped these days) the distance from
the center outside rivet hole to the strut mounting hole is 1 & 11/16 or so.

If you have the newer one be very cautious of dimensions given by people
already on floats or when following any mounting instructions.

Subject: Mounting floats to your Rebel - FUS-42 Caution !

Just a cautionary note to those that may read dimensions somewhere in the
archives for the rear strut length or in MAM's mounting instructions.

I received some new FUS-42-1's a week or so ago from MAM and found that
the
strut attach hole is now 3/8" further out in relation to the bulkhead than
it used to be. The part was also not incremented to 42-2 to avoid any
confusion. This information has been relayed to Robin and apparently the
part was changed to allow more clearance on the squarer Elite fuselage and
to make a universal part for both airframes.

I don't know what serial number that this part would have started shipping
at so can't help you out there. (Jesse..you'll have the newer ones.)

You'll know if you have old or newer as the old one just needs basically a
slot in the corner wrap the length of the tab width. The newer longer
tabbed
fitting will require a slot almost double the tab width as it is heavily
radius'd going into the bulkhead mounting area.

Cheers,
Wayne
