I am working on my rudder now and just wondering how many people
installed electric trim? Is it needed? Pictures and explanations greatly
appreciated.

Brad - I added the rudder trim - Talked to the guys at Ray Allen (Servo
Mfg)
and they suggested a 6" trim about 2" (they were laughing about the size
of
the elev trim)- worked out to half a bay and two or three rivets in -

Aldrich pointed out that you should put it up in the clean air away from
the
fuse turbulence which also keeps the rudder from interfering with the elev
in a full deflection situation. I put an extra rib (halfway made it 6")
in
the bay under the mid hinge and put it in the upper half of that bay.

Is it needed? Your guess is as good as mine - I also put in an aileron
trim
tab - Go figure..

Another thought on the rudder trim: As Steve pointed out yesterday, if you
are ever going to put an external load on (i.e. see picture of Robin with
the canoe in every Moose advertisement) your foot is going to get real
tired. I would rather have it and not use it than not have it and wish I
did (sort of like fuel or left over landing distance).

Southern
Hemisphere?

Actually a good question - I didn't even think about it - I too am going
to
run a v8 - I think the different PSRU's might spin different directions
but
I haven't worried about it yet - I did think about a gap seal on the super
large elevator trim -

So I think I will install the trim setup. I should just need three extra
rudder ribs right? One full length to split a bay and two that can be cut
off
like the elevator ribs are. Then two pieces of channel for each side and a
hinge. So if I make it half a bay and 2" deep that is enough? I think that
was
one of the dimensions someone replied with but I want to double check.
