Builders tip

Hi folks,
This might be old hat for the experienced veterans on the list. I've been
working on the rear wing attaches and had to add the outer corner rounds and
rear float fix gussets where the attaches exit. I already had rivets
installed in this area. Problem - how to locate the holes in the gussets
and corner round without wallowing out the rivet holes and needing to go to
a larger rivet. I found a way that worked amazingly well.
I made a 'bucking bar' out of a piece of iron with a hole in it large enough
to fit over the pulled end of the rivets on the back side. Place it over
the back of the rivet and then drive out the mandrel from the front with a
small pin punch. Now drill through the rivet bodies with a #40 drill.
Finally drill the heads off with a #30 - don't go all the way through just
take the heads off. Now you can drill the gussets as normal with a #40 -
drilling from the back through the rivet bodies and cleco. After it's all
fitted drill from the front with a #30 and on through the rivet bodies.
Works like a charm!
