Hi All
My name is Angus McKenzie I'm in London,Ontario with Rebel 049.
I put about 80 hours on it in 2 months including flying from Kelowna B.C.
to Ontario then problems started to appear including fuselege fracturing in
the tail spring mounting area and rudder post binding. As well I have had
some serious problems with Matco axles, brakes and wheels, all of which have
been removed recently and replaced with Murphy stuff and 8:50x6 Air-Trac
tyres. We machined 2 degrees of incidence, toe-in, into the axles to over
come the unpredictable ground handling associated with toe-out.
As well I have installed a set of wing cuffs and fences which make a
dramatic change in angle of attack and flight stability. These are an exact
copy of a commercially available STOL kit for the deHavilland Beaver scaled
down to 60% and produced on CNC machinery. I hope to sell these kits to
interested builders and at this time I plan to have my Rebel at the
September builders meeting, weather permiting.
Presently I have a Colin Walker wooden prop on a Lycoming 0-290D but I am
looking for a 3 blade Warp prop to try, so if any one has a Warp prop to
sell or knows of one available pease contact me. As well I will be glad to
respond to any inquires about STOL kits.
Regards, Angus

Hi Angus,

I would be interested to hear more about your STOL kit.

What are the tangible performance benefits? Is there a down side to them at
all? Cost? etc.

Cheers

Alister.
