Horizontal Elevator Hinge Reinforcement
Posted: Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:40 am
Hi All,
I just uploaded some pictures of the horizontal stab's outboard elevator
hinge reinforcement I've completed.
The pictures tell the story.
The outside doubler is .040. I pro-sealed in the inside Al angle but the
doubler was primed and allowed to dry before installation. This allows it to
be removed and replaced with a SeaFin if needed. The 3/16 " rivets were used
because the original rib had them, tooling holes I imagine. Also to keep the
bolt heads out of the radius of the inside Al angle I used a radiused piece
of the angles "leg", fits quite nicely.
Hope the pictures are helpful,
Don B
