Aren't the Rebel & Moose tailwheel assemblies one and the same?

While the AK Bushwheel tailwheel assembly (
http://www.akbushwheel.com/TundraTailwheel.html ) would be great if I
did most landings off-pavement, I, unfortunately, have to say 80% of my
landings are on pavement. Hence, I'm looking for a larger footprint to
reduce rolling resistance for the 20% of the time I'm on grass/sand.

The MAM (Moose) tailwheel assembly just doesn't seem to be very robust
compared to a Scott or to a XPMODS tailwheel (
http://www.xpmods.com/tailwheels/default.asp ). That doesn't mean the
MAM (Moose) tailwheel isn't Ok for most applications; I just perceive
the tailwheel as a particularly critical component; I want to make sure
I have the best (cost/benefit) one available.

No Rebel tail wheel and Moose tailwheel or two entirely different animals.
Rebel is just a 6" solid rubber tire and a much lighter fork/pivot assembly
than the one I have for the SR.

In May of 2002 when Mike Kimball and I flew down to Anchorage to fly the MAM
demonstrator, they had it outfitted with a tailwheel assembly that used the
nosewheel off of an Elite. Does anybody know what came of that experiment?

Supposedly, one can still get that Elite nosewheel / tailwheel. I
haven't seen one or talked to anyone that has any insight on hot robust
it is...

Rebel vs Moose tailwheel

I have the new tailwheel and it looks robust. The plan is to pull the
amphibs tomorrow and install the conventional gear and the new tail wheel
this week. I plan a gusset where the stinger mounts in the channel brackets,
that means an access hole in the tail cone. I'll keep you posted, but the
plane will be down for a week or two.
