you definitely still need to give the customs people their
advance notice, just as anywhere else. But you shouldn't need the

Well, as long as you warned Garry about not letting Bob sleep in
past noon, they should get to Calgary by Sunday.

Delivered FOKM to Brampton for 8:45 this morning...
after taking off in
about 4" of snow from our grass runway. Skirted a
pretty good snow squall
off the lake..flying almost to Barrie before I could
turn and head for
Brampton.
Once I got her to Brampton Bob did a circuit to get
used to her again and
then Garry and Bob loaded up their gear, filled her
full of fuel and blasted
off shortly before noon..... with hopes that the
squall I skirted had headed
back out over the lake thanks to the wind switching to
out of the south.
Their hope was to reach at least Gore Bay on
Manitoulin Island today.
Tomorrow they hope to hop the border, without a
transponder, clear customs
on Drummond Island and then work their way West and
probably cross back into
Canada at Piney Manitoba where you don't need a flight
plan to cross the
border (runway 1/2 US..1/2 Canada)
Expect it will be a nerve wracking trip for them at
this time of the year.
Was -11 here this morning and about 1*C when they
headed out at noon. Lake
is wide open and any breeze makes it look like
Christmas around here. Once
clear of Superior they should be okay...but a lot of
changing weather is
ahead of them over the next week or so... trying to
get to Springbank in
Calgary.
Will update if I hear from them...but figure it might
just be Garry filling
us in once they arrive in Alberta.
