McCauley Prop/Spacer "adjustment"

Clay, take the spacer that comes with the prop to someone with a lathe or
milling machine and cut it down, on the forward face, to the thickness you
need. Generally you can take them down to almost 3/4" thick and still have a
distinct bushing hole and still retain the reduced diameter bolt holes. The
dowel pin holes go all the way thru, so just knock them out..machine the
spacer and reinstall the pins.

I found a McCauley prop DTM 75 X 57at a good price and was prepared to
buy it for my 0320 until I found out that it won't fit without a
standard 3 1/2 spacer (used on many Cessna 172s). I'd rather not have
to use a spacer of that size with my nosebowl / metal cowl. Would
something like a 1 " spacer with the dowel pins be available?
Thanks for any help.
