given right from the start with the 3500 upgrade kits. Guess maybe they've
been finding infield airplanes that this wasn't done to or could it be maybe
that this was intended as a reference for the SB on the ELITE elevator?? and
then my question is why isn't the SR2500 effected the same way??
If you haven't done the SB on your Moose yet...before you have one nicely
closed up check the archives for references to the "V" width required to
clear the fin rear post and it's spar doublers. I was lucky enough to be the
guy that found out there isn't sufficient clearance between the elevator and
the post and now have to take mine all apart and trim each side of the V
back past the rivet holes and reinstall the ribs. (Gee wish it was as easy
as it writes!). Newer kits and fast builds (after about Feb 2002 I believe)
where modified prior to construction with a wider "V".
After I found this clearance problem I was also concerned that since nobody
else had reported it to MAM and there was already some flying that either
these guys modified quietly or bolted the stab fitting in front of both sets
of fuselage attach brackets to give the required clearance.... instead of
putting them between the fus brackets as designed. Suggested even a
cautionary SB be posted to insure this wasn't done, as doing so puts the
attach bolts in singular shear and subject to a cantilever bending
moment.... as opposed double shear the bolts would be in if the stab fitting
is properly installed between the two fus brackets.
