Width of Moose on floats
Posted: Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:40 am
I have trailered the plane on a 9'6" low deck semi truck and it just
sticks out each side, so I'd say 10' about max width and centerline is
about 9'

Al and/or Ryan...what is the center to center width for the keel strips
and
total overall outside to outside width of your floats?
Knowing that... then I won't have too narrow of a ramp for you when you
arrive...or if I ever get off my ass and pull my Moose back out of the
marine container....finish it and mount those EDO 3500's I have for it
...that are collecting dust.
Thanks,
Wayne

This is the first time I've responded to the email list as I've just
signed up, however the float docking question is of interest to me.
sayhave only about 150 hours on a 400 hp Moose with amphibs so I must
that athe safest place is in the hanger. But on the lake I have found
Tiegood Buoy and a couple of 45 gallon plastic drums work fairly well.
wingtwo 25' lines from the float tips to the buoy and a rope from each
byto a mostly submerged plastic drum. The plane is free to rotate 360
degrees around the buoy as the wind changes but side gusts are muted
aboutthe plastic drums. This is how I do it now, but I always worry
it. Out of the water would be a better sleep.
