Hi Scott,
Thanks for the reply. That is exactly the kind of response I was hoping
for.
So far I've heard from two people. What I've learned so far from the
Murphy
people and some builders is that total kits were not available for a while
due to the mods Darryl Murphy made on the flap handle position from overhead
to the floor in the form of a Johnson bar like C180's have. Much better
design now. Also the manual was kind of a learning process as building
progressed. That too is now in a better format as I understand? Some
people
are choosing to build the plane with some of their own ideas. I think this
is a mistake. Darryl Murphy is a great designer and I would build it his
way. O540 engs. are not that expensive. 0 time eng with a new in box prop
is available for $19,000.00. I know of one SR2500 with an M14 radial eng
that is on floats flying in Ont. Canada. There is so much intrest in that
eng that I would expect Darryl Murphy to do some design engineering and come
up with some statement about that eng. on the airplane.
Your comment about the airplane being superior to a C180 is right on the
nose. I would even match it with a C206. Especially the cost!!! I'll
know
more when I return from Homer Alaska where my friend is working full time
(two people) on a kit.
Keep in touch,
Regards, Alex Russell
