Elevator/Rudder Pulleys

Good to see someone is awake here Bob!! :o))

The Rebel indeed needs this set of pulleys at the back to deflect the
elevator cables from the floor guides up into the mixer in the tail for the
double push/pull tubes to the elevators.

You should also have a minimum of one pulley between the seats to bring the
top cable down coming off the control tube to floor level. A double pulley
here for both cables really cleans things up nicely.

You also require a pulley on each RUDDER cable at the transition from the
straight cabin section to the tappered tailcone section to be legal per AC43
and the MDRA inspection program. Lots of airplanes are flying without any
pulleys in them (my FOKM for one)....but I do know that if two people start
pushing rudder pedals at the same time it is possible to pop cable guides
right out of their rivets at these angle transitions so a few extra pulleys
are a really good idea! Learned this when checking out my guys from MAUI
before shipping their airplane to the Island.

Cheers,
Wayne

Gentlemen: The pulleys you refer to are for the Elevator control - not the
rudder. Bob Johnson Rebel "652"
