Rebel manual

References to the new and old MAM in a recent post has me wondering what I
have. I have Rebel #758, but my manual pages (I'm building the tail kit now)
have old dates on them, like 1492 or something. When did the "new" manual
come out?
Thanks.
Jesse

Jessse,
My kit was new in 1995 and the MAM pages are dated 1994. I bought the
project from original builder a little over a year ago, and some here had
suggested it might be helpful to get the current MAM, which I did. Word was
that current means approx 1999. Dates on those MAM pages are 1998 and 99. I
agree it is slightly helpful also being able to reference the newer MAM, but
I find it best to make the MAM that shipped with my kit my main building
bible. (Even "slightly" helpful can save frustrating hours of recovery from
a goof, so IMO anything to help avoid a goof is money well spent)

Thanks Ben.
I just went and flipped through mine and I saw a lot of 98 and some 99, so
I guess I have the most current thing out there.
Thanks for the info.
Jesse

Rebel Manual

Well, I received my new manual and supplement CD today. It'll be nice to
compare the two and build to the current version but I'm pretty disappointed
with them both. You know, I'm not a hard to please guy but the two really
leave a lot to be desired. The two large manuals that came with my kit have
been miraculously combined into one that's the same size as the other two!
The print is much smaller and the drawings as well. Seems like for $400 it
would be larger, easier to read, and made from some type of paper that might
last a while. It's plain notebook paper. Several of the pages already had
the holes torn just from them trying to pack it all in one book! T might
even take it to kinkos and check on having it done in some stronger paper.
I shouldn't have to, though.

There are more problems with the two of them but I'm trying to not be too
bitchy. Sent a similar letter to MAM.

On a good, no great note, we visited Ben up in Davis this past weekend and
checked out his rebel. He was a very gracious host and took time from his
Sat to talk, explain, and even unwrap his wings so that we could get a good
look. A high point for my father in law was Ben letting him pull a rivet
(his first time). He's 86 and he really enjoyed the trip! Thank you Ben,
again for your time and the information. If you get to Alaska, you'd better
call me! If I don't have a lot finished, we'll at least go get some salmon!

I had two other offers to visit in CA but they were too far for all of us to
go. Hopefully another time. Craig
