Hi Jerald !

Happy to help ! The reason MAM suggests the splice is that
everybody who has tried those spring ends has had the same problem
that you had - they pull out !! The splice needs to be tied VERY
tightly, as the rubber shrinks when stretched, and tends to pull
out ... I've re-posted the picture of the tool to make rings,
under 134 - R-Landing Gear - it's called bungeetool.jpg. It works
well because the bungee is stretched before the splicing is done,
so it is already smaller than normal diameter.

The 9044 rings are a much easier solution - pricey, but
good. Actually, $15.20 sounds pretty good - we've paid as much
as $49 a pair locally, when in a rush !! :-(

If you send an email addressed to rebel-builders@dcsol.com
it will go out to the list, with your return email address also. I've
forwarded this one to the list - hope you don't mind. If you 'subscribe'
to the list, you will receive all the emails when posted. Maybe
you could post a message with some details on your Rebel - engine
type & size, serial number, and anything else you think might be
interesting or helpful to others ...

This list is a great resource - please drop us a note anytime
you have a question !

Enjoy your Rebel !!! :-)

Thanks for the response. The ends I used are from Aircraft Spruce and were a
way to not have to make the splice as MAM suggests. Just hook a cone spring
end on each bolt and start stretching. I had four and a half wraps on each
side of each bolt pair. Everything was OK until I dropped in kind of hard.
The
ends pulled out but the cords stayed in place. Didn't go to the safety
cable.
I will be ordering the 9044 rings and larger bolts today. Also from Aircraft
Spruce @ $15.20 each unless you know of a better deal.

Thanks again,
Jerald Huffman

Hi , I guess I wasn,t clear about what I am looking for. I am actually looking for the spring assembly that replaces the bungies on the existing Rebel gear. Sorry about the confusion. Bob
