Fire threat

Just wanted to give everybody a heads up that we may end up having to
evacuate our home due to a threat from forest fire. They have started
evacuations to a point about 5 miles from our house, and depending how the
wind blows we may have to go soon. If the server becomes unavailable it may
be due to power outages, and we will have to wait and see what happens.

No immediate threat at the moment, but if it comes to that I'm not going to
stop to write another message.

I heard the vis was pretty bad up there and most everyone is grounded wiht
1/8 to 1/4 mile in smoke and most everything is covered in ashes.

Hopefully if the server does indeed go down it's only a power outage and not
something worse.

Do what it takes to keep the family safe and don't waste anytime worrying
about our access Mike!

Fill the tub(s), sink(s) with water and anything else you can find in the
yard to fill while you still have power to do so! Rake all the loose leaves
and pine needles as far as you can away from the house..then make sure you
have the garden hoses handy and sprinklerS going heavy on the walls & roof
if things get toooo close. Last but not least...get the hell out of dodge
while you still can if the flames get too close!

Good Luck,
Wayne

Mike,
I have a farm three hours out of Sydney; I am a member of our bush fire
brigade. Advice: if fire storm approaches do not; I say again DO NOT try and
out run. Wet woollen blankets and cover yourself, stay in your car or house,
even if your house is on fire, until the fire storm has pasted. DO NOT panic
and try and out run the fires storm; it wins every time!!!
Good luck and gods speed.

Kind regards,
Greg. Gordon. Elite 724.

I've got the emergency generator all set in case commercial power goes
down... that way we can keep the water running. We're not in any immediate
danger, but with the forecasted 25-30 mph gusts, it could move a lot in any
direction tonight.

Thanks Greg... we'll be long gone before the flames get that close! I've
already got the camper loaded for a planned camping trip starting this
weekend, so we're all set to bug out.

Looks like you have some showers forecast for Sat and Sun and rain for
Monday Mike. Hopefully you remain downwind until that (hopefully) happens!
