Moose - Flap torque tube attach

Al, or anyone else that is done..

It looks to me that once you install the inboard flap hinge bolt and then
rivet the EL-31 to the torque tube attachment you can not get that flap back
off the wing without losing the bolt inside the tube?. No way to get to the
bolt? Is this correct? Did you modify anything here?

Thanks
Scott

Scott,
I'm not sure I see what your talking about. The short tube from the hinge
floats in the EL-31 (that is the end cap, correct?) on a steel bushing
bolted to the hinge. The other end attaches with nut plates to the torque
tube that runs through the cabin. The torque tube in the cabin must be
removed to get the flaps off, or you can pull the wing and flaps together
and leave the torque tube in the cabin.

Al, thanks for pulling my head out.. You are correct that it (the EL-31 end
cap with the short torque tube attached) slips over the steel bushing. I
made those so long ago and when I looked at them in the bag the other day I
saw the bushing but thought it only went part way through the EL-31. Then I
looked at the manual and it looks like the bolt would be stuck in there,
hence my post.

This helps me not screw up my new flap control set up as my inner EL-31's
will now be a solid hinge point and float on that outer one.

So, Brent, if you are following this also it would seem there would be no
reason to take the flap off if you didn't want to as you can just slip the
EL-31 over the inner hinge bushing/bolt.

Thanks Al,

Scott
