Hi Ted !
Your cruise speeds seem quite low - have you checked them agaist
a GPS ?? Did you ever try a photocell tach to check that the rpm
you are reading is indeed the prop rpm ??
I seem to remember getting cruise more like 120 kt at about
2000 rpm .... been a while though, so I'm a bit fuzzy !

I do have a GPS in the plane; ground & true airspeed were indeed higher,
but winds/temp/altitude of course influence those. That's why I was/am
monitoring indicated speed. Using the E6B feature on the GPS, and
looking at the headwind/tailwind component, the indicated airspeed vs
ground speed seemed reasonable. Nonetheless, I'll be more diligent
about tracking these #'s too in my next flight(s).
I haven't used a photocell tach yet; that's next on my list. I did talk
to the builder, though, who confirmed that I'm seeing prop rpm on the
engine monitor.
Wow, I wish I was getting 120K at 2000 (engine) or 1400 prop rpm (lowest
setting that seems "right" on my plane). Engine / prop start growling
below 1400 prop rpm.
Thanks!
Ted
