I need some information. Is there any of you guys out there flying with
3 blade Warp Drive blades on a Lycoming 0320 with 150 or 160 Hp. I
would appreciate numbers in pitch and RPM if you are. I am trying to
get a feel for comparison numbers with my Subaru.

What I am really looking for is what static max RPM the 0320 guys get
and what pitch setting. Cruise speeds and RPMs will vary with each
airplane. I get 115 indicated with 4600 and 14 degrees but it doesn't
give me anything to compare unless I get some static numbers full
throttle. Then I can adjust to same pitch and compare. Thanks all.

Dave:

My static run up shows around 4800 rpm at 15 degrees pitch. I know you
wanted numbers for the 0320 but I thought this might be useful with Subaru.

Typical settings start in the 13 degree range, and yield about 108 to
110 mph cruise at 2,450 rpm - all this on amphib floats, so may not be
much
help for you in comparison. It seems that Rebels with O-320's don't stay
on wheels for very long :-) :-)

These settings, or slightly coarser pitch, seem to yield about 120 to
125 mph on wheels....

Brian Godden - do you have a Warp Drive ?? Anybody else out there on
wheels with more info ????

FWIW, Geert Frank's Rebel, with a stock (more or less :-) ) Subaru
Legacy and Ross re-drive, with a 3 blade (tapered) Warp Drive, gave
about 105 - 110 mph at 4,900 rpm ....
I talked to Geert. He is running about 11 degrees because of the
reduced power. At 14 degrees I am static running 5200 and cruising at
115 at 4600. No much comparison as I want to see what the LYc guys are
turning.

Sounds like you're getting LOTS of power !! The O-320's seem to get in
the
120 - 125 mph range, at 2,450 rpm, in the 13 degree range, on wheels....

115 mph at 4,600 must give GREAT fuel economy, and sure isn't working
the engine hard !! I think we'll see more Subarus flying !!!!

....bobp
ps
I moved your reply to the top of the messages - it's much easier
to read & follow if you put your answers on top of the previous messages

Thanks Bob. I am not satisfied with the power yet. Yea, it works
okay. I would like you to fly it at Oshkosh just for grins.
