regarding cabin heat. He feels that it would be better to try restricting
the input air line to the heat muff instead of placing heat absorbing spring
like material inside the muff to get more heat inside the cabin. He
believes that a high air flow isn't allowing the air inside the muff to warm
up before going on down the line into the cabin. While on the topic of heat
muffs John told me that he now manufactures muffs with different
input/output configurations. Apparently all Murphy exhaust systems (about
50) were sent out with the standard 180 degrees input/output flanged
muffs.(input on top of one end and output on bottom of opposite end) Now
Forsling makes a 90 degree left and 90 degree right muff which may work
better on some installations and John is now offering all Murphy customers
free replacement of standard 180 degree muffs with the 90 left/right flanged
muffs. I'm not sure now, but he might have also mentioned a 0 degree muff.
Of course you'll have to contact him for more info regarding this exchange.
Also, for those that are interested, Forsling now manufactures a muffler
(piccolo or something ...? pipe) - that clamps to the end of his exhaust
which he sells for $50 a set. He claims that these pipes will muffle and
also change the sound.

Subject: Forsling Aviation stainless steel exhaust
*-------------------------------------------------------------------------*I noticed a while back when I first installed my stainless steel exhaust
that the left tailpipe was not exiting the lower cowl the same as the
right side. So I final got a chance to call Forsling Avaition to see
what they could done about this problem. I spoke with John and he
seemed very eager to discuss the problem and asked me to send the
exhaust back to him for repair or replacement.
