Hi Rick !

Home - dialup - apat@istar,ca

Home - high-speed - beep@sympatico.ca

Please use the high-speed for large files, photos, etc -
it is also the most likely place to catch me. There are still
some problems with high-speed, or I would have switched completely
last year !! :-(

Get rid of WinDoze and switch to Linux - you will get rid
of all those viruses and crashes - no more "Blue Screen Of Death" !! ;-)
Try Knoppix to test your hardware, and test-drive Linux without
having to install it on the drive. Knoppix can be d/l'd for free,
and burned onto a CD - just boot off the CD and enjoy !!! :-)

Bet you've got a skyrocket and a half now !! ;-) :-)
How about some performance numbers ?? !! :-)

Thanks Phil ! Appreciate anything that'll help us to
get in contact with Al Wicks so we can (possibly) get that Subaru
engine ! Apologies to the rest of the list .... it IS
at least 'engine related' . ;-) :-)

BOB
sorry about posting this on the Murphy Group site, but Wayne's buddy
that's
building the Christiva might know Al Wicks email address. ( I'm
having a brain
bubble and can't remember his name). I did go to the airsoob site and
forward
the info to Al W. hope he does a return.

Thanks Bob ....

Please use the high-speed for large files, photos, etc -
it is also the most likely place to catch me. There are still
some problems with high-speed, or I would have switched completely
last year !! :-(

We're on Cable now ... very fast, no problems either

;-)

I'm really starting to HATE computers !!! :-(

Bet you've got a skyrocket and a half now !! ;-) :-)
How about some performance numbers ?? !! :-)

Still testing, .... main thing is, the propeller I was given to copy
(from a Tri Pacer) was 74 X 61 ....( the guy that lent it to me was the
Ozzy agent for Aircraft Screwup until very recently ... and a 747 Qantas
jockey, built an ACRO and done a fantastic job of restoring the Tri
Pacer as well.)
So he shows me "all the numbers" and says ... (comparing the Rebels'
numbers to the Tri Pacers') ...."the wing area is the same, the wing
loading is the same, the speeds are about the same and the engines are
the same .... so a 74 X 61 should work !"
(Mind you, the wing section (depth) is quite different !?!) .... so I
copied his 74 X 61 (metal) .... in Canadian Rock Maple .....and it goes
"OK" ... but it's a SPEED prop !!!

I am still having a few problems with my magneto and with my air speed
pitiot & static port (mew, my design), also & suspect that they are not
100% right as yet, so I'm a little reluctant to chop the propeller as
far down as it seems to need just yet.

(Tacho is a "tad" off song .... and the air speed is underreading
quite a bit (up to 15 knots) at times :-(

I was only getting 2150 RPM at takeoff ..... too slow ... so I chopped
an inch off each end ....
Then getting 2250, so I chopped another inch off each end ...
NOW getting 2350 RPM at takeoff & 2450ish at cruise .... but straight
& level, tacho only showing 2650 FLAT OUT ... which seems a little off
to me ?!?!?.

X!X!X!X!X! Flew the Rebel at 950 Kgs yesterday - 2100ish Lbs - (as
a test, as I'm registering her at 925 Kgs MTOW) .... for those "one off
times ... every blue moon" that I need to to HUGE distances and fuel is
not available along the way ... and I need to carry me a a large mate,
and luggage too. It's a $5,000 on the spot fine down here if you get
caught overloading .... so now I can do the odd flight at a higher gross
"legally" :-)

It flew quite well,.... but the stall was a lot higher (indicated on
my "not 100% right speedo) than I had expected ..... between 55 and 60
nots clean.

Does anyone out there have any stall numbers for their Rebels at
higher gross weights ???????
Lets hear from you guys !
I'll give a fuller report as I progress :-)

Yours Flyingly
Biggus Dickus
(Rick)
