DUAL BRAKE

When I ordered my rebel kit, I did'nt ordered the dual brake kit.
But now I think it will be a good idea to have dual (no time yet on tail wheel). MAM list the dual kit at $375.00 usd. In the manual, the plan show the plan/instruction for dual retrofit or single set of brake pedal. The only difference I can see, is just couple of tube, small brachets, cotter pin, bolt etc.... The $375.00 is like a warning light to me.... do I missed something? If not, I will fabricate thoses parts and save....
I am building a Rebel but I know someone wuo is building a Elite, do they have the same brakes pedal? If it is the same, I can use his parts for copy? Someone cant hel me..... I am waithing the firts inspection (tail, aileron) and I want to finish those parts (final rivething, trim installation) before to start the wings. So if it is too long, I will make the brake parts until.

DUAL BRAKE

Hi Jean
Yet another option is to pick up a cheap set of used brake cylinders at
Sun&FUN and make two extra brake pedals. Either way I think "airparts"
in the flymarket usually has cheap short lengths of 4130 tubing but they
may sell out by later in the week. I picked up a parking brake valve as
well. There was no visible wear on the used parts so I put new buna
o-rings in them and installed them. They will get removed when 119 goes
onto floats anyway. I haven't taken a good look at the mechanical
interconnect system to see which approach I like better or which is less
work.

Jean.....the cheapest option (and probably the best working set up) is to go
to a salvage yard and get a full set of pedals out of a Cessna or
Beechcraft. The AULA Rebel that I am refurbing right now has a set, that I
believe came out of a Beechcraft, and they are the cats meow..... compared
to MAM's set up.

If you want some pics just ask!

DUAL BRAKE

Posted: Sat Feb 18, 2012 9:09 am
by Wayne G. O'Shea
Jean...take the entire assembly! Pedals/cylinders/mounting blocks and all
for dual control. There's usually only one set of cylinders on a nice set...
that are operated by pushing either sides pedals. Using double sets of
cylinders plumbed in series only adds to the cost/maintenance/leak
possibilities.

Cheers,
Wayne
