Rebel Seat Rail Rivets

My manual does not mention the type of rivet to use to attach the rails to
the cabin floor. I have lots of RV 1410s but feel that they may be a bit
short going through the rail flange, floor and floor channels.

Ken,

I found I have some longer rivets, RV4514, they should do the job. Thanks
for the input.

I doubt that Murphy would but a little error in the manual to keep us alert.
I have alway believed that my problem with the manual is that I lack an
understanding of "Canadian". Seriously though, years ago I was envolved
with the procurement of a maintenance manual for a new Navy hydrofoil boat.
It took several years to write and proof and it cost millions of dollars. I
have great empathy for the people who have to write manuals.

Lonnie I have used the RV1410 everywhere unless something else was
called out or unless the grip was more than 3/16". Yes there were a few
places where I thought a longer grip was required or a good idea. If you
put a RV1410 through a solid 3/16" thick piece of material and note the
size of the formed head, then I think any place you notice a smaller
formed head is probably appropriate for a longer rivet. That
occasionally happens with a many layered joint that has some air spaces
between the layers prior to pulling. Anyway I did purchase a few longer
grip avex rivets from Avdel Textron. I know I have a double floor under
my seat rails as I overlapped the corner wraps and the floor sheet for
both sides of the rails and I might have exceeded 3/16" at the
bulkheads. Little changes always seem to have implications and then
there is the rumour that MAM put an error in the manual somewhere just
to see if we are paying attention ;)
