want to buy WARP DRIVE PROP

Why a 4 blader? My 72 inch 3 blader worked very well with the 150
hp Lycoming on 1800 amphibs. More climb and cruise than the
Sensenich metal 2 blader, and no cracking on mine. And no, I'm
not selling mine.

I assume that is Warp's recommendation now to avoid the cracking.
The 180 hp would require 4 blades just to absorb all the hp. I do
know there were some on this list that were switching out their
Warps because of the cracking fears, so maybe someone here might
still have one for sale. Also, if he's going to a 4 blade Warp, I
would expect the efficiency to drop a little, and with the extra
blade, you're getting closer to the weight of a 2 blade metal
Sensenich. With hauling those Full Lotus floats out of the water,
he might want to try a Borer.

No, but that sounds like a pretty good deal. Sure would like to
hear about someone trying a Borer on an amphib Rebel. There is
one here locally that I could borrow, but unfortunately my
Sensenich spacer won't fit it. It would work well on a non-spacer
regular cowl.

Did you ever talk to Sensenich in Florida (wood prop
factory)? They told me
several years ago they would make me an experimental
Borer prop on my Rebel for
1200 or 1800 US. I can't remember now what the exact
amount was.

I might buy one after I get some experience with the
Amphibs. Or an
adjustable pitch. Borer would be less $$$ I'm sure.

want to buy WARP DRIVE PROP

Posted: Sat Feb 18, 2012 8:59 am

Yeah, I guess even with 4 blades, he should still be about 20
pounds lighter than the Sensenich as long as he doesn't use that
harmonic balancer. If he likes the Warp 4 blader on the 150 hp,
he would like the 3 blader even better.

I am using the 74 X 54 Sensenich right now. While not quite as
good in climb and cruise as the Warp, I think my take-offs are
slightly faster. That's because the Sensenich turns 2500 on
take-off while my Warp only did 2450. However, after lift off,
the Warp would turn 2600 in climb while the Sensenich only did
2550. My Warp would also redline over 2700 at that pitch setting,
and had to throttle back a bit at the top end. The Sensenich just
hits 2700 at full throttle straight and level.

Too bad Warp doesn't make an 82 inch 2 blader! I guess they would
need to engineer a humongous hub and clamping set-up with all
that inertia.

180 hp on a Rebel, heh? Must be pretty good performance!

want to buy WARP DRIVE PROP

Walter

Did you ever talk to Sensenich in Florida (wood prop factory)? They told me
several years ago they would make me an experimental Borer prop on my Rebel for
1200 or 1800 US. I can't remember now what the exact amount was.

I might buy one after I get some experience with the Amphibs. Or an
adjustable pitch. Borer would be less $$$ I'm sure.
