Midland Ski Flyin - Hopefully Sat Feb 14th 2004

Once again if this is of no interest too you..... please hit DELETE now!

Things look good for this weekend... if the weather cooperates!

Bruce spent yesterday afternoon/evening doing some packing of the fresh snow
fall and I spent the whole afternoon going over everything again today. The
area that we have been packing each day has hardened up pretty good. Just
hoping our Business partners aren't paying any attention to what we've been
up to (or lack of!) and that they don't dock our salaries this week!.

Bruce has also gone way overboard this year with the wind break/shelter.
He's wired in saplings horizontally, to our usual vertical posts through the
ice, to make an entire structure (roof and all) to cover with a tarp and we
also hauled out a big (4' long) old barrel wood stove (with skis welded on)
this afternoon for a heat source . I think we'll hook the snowmobile to it
ahead of time... so we are ready when it starts going though the ice! :O)! .
People might get so comfortable that they won't pay any attention to the
planes coming and going! And David Stroud....Bruce is bringing Chili...so if
that's all it takes to get you off the Rideau River down there in Kempville
and up here to Penetang, get the plane ready!!

At this point we are a go for Saturday and please remember and follow the
last posted info as to where to land/radio/parking and take off areas. DO
NOT STOP out on the main lake! Lots of ice and you won't go through, but the
slushy areas have no pattern to them. Lots of snow on top... so just keep
moving until you get to the parking area inside the LARGE traffic cones.

I will post again by 8:30 at the latest on Sat am, as to what the weather
has dealt us. Hopefully Saturday is a go, but with Friday night calling for
60Kmph gusts and possiblity of flurries Saturday who knows, but if not there
is always Sunday that is currently calling for a sunny day.

Remember we are now back on our original lake that we have used for years
(except for last year). St. Andrews (Mud) Lake, Penetanguishene. Directions
were in the last post as well. Hope to see lots of airplanes and people out
to enjoy the day!

Any questions send me a personal email to oifa@irishfield.on.ca

Cheers,
Wayne
