[RAA-N]KLX 135 - Bendix King Error Code 009

MYSTERY SOLVED!!

Got an email back from Honeywell (which now owns bendix/king) and the error
code 009 is apparently caused by their lack of thinking when they were
writting programming. Every leap year it computes Feb 1st as Jan32nd and
will bring up the error and not work for the entire day. Come Feb 2nd the
unit will go back to normal. I'd figure a leap year would effect Mar 1 and
not Feb 1st, but what the heck do I know. I should be good to go again, just
don't plan any cross countries for Feb 1st during leap years I guess if you
own one of these!!

There is apparently a software update Mod for this, but waiting to hear if
it's user loadable or has to go to a service facility. If facility forget it
...for one day every four years!

Looking for someone with radio knowledge on the Bendix King KLX135.

Got my overhauled starter back on today, taking advantage of a warmer
sunny
day and went out to play for about an hour in the deep powder snow.
However
when I turned on the radio, it went through it's usual confirmation pages
of
data base/position etc. Then shows frequency it's on/ standby freq. etc
and
that it is establishing track etc, just like normal. Then about 10 seconds
later the screen changes to read

KLX 135 System Error
Error Code 009

[RAA-N]KLX 135 - Bendix King Error Code 009

Won't be doing the update! Apparently a $1000US bench upgrade to cover a
once every four year malfunction!

Thanks to everyone that offered to help me look into this error code! Wayne
........................
Wayne,

The mod they refer to in the bulletin is a hardware upgrade. It is a GPS
receiver change. It would be about $1000
upgrade for a problem that only surfaces once every 4 years. Not a very
cost effective. Sorry for the confusion. I
was under the impression that this was a software upgrade as well.

Thank you,
