Wayne,

Do YOU put the spray rails alongside the step on all of your floats? In
some of the pictures it looks as if there aren't any spray rails next to
the step. I just put the first one on, & it looks pretty flimsy to
me--just waiting to get bent the first time you pull it up on a beach.
Would like your or anybody else's opinion on them. Thanks!

I have mine on exactly as per stock factory specs, and am OK with
them as they are. They are supposed to help give you some lift at
the back for faster take-offs. How much difference it makes, not
sure. So far, after a couple of years float flying, no damage on
docks or barnacles. You do need to be careful not to cut your
shins, though, when working around them in the hangar.

have had "hands on" with here. They will get damaged
of course, if you start
ramming docks etc with them. On Howard's we left the
inside ones full width
and cut the outside ones down to about 70%.... so they
weren't quite as
flimsy and so they didn't stick out as far to sustain
dock rash damage.

Hi Clint
I put all 4 spray rails on my floats it really helps to pop the plane up
onto the step quickly. They are kind of flimsy but are well above the
bottom when beaching the plane. The real problem is docking without denting
the outside ones. I also gave myself a nasty cut on my toe while pumping
them out with the plane was beached

Can't remember exactly, as it was a couple of years ago now for
me, but do believe it matters. Aren't the ports labelled at the
back? Worst case, you'll have to do some trial and error.

Don't know Bruce, but if you don't get a good answer by tomorrow,
I can go out to my hangar and have a look. Just tell me exactly
what you want me to check. Not sure if I can get a digital pic
from behind the panel, but will try if you want. I also just had
a look at the manual, and figure 16.3.2 seemed to show how each
port was to be used. I think that's what I followed, and it
worked out OK.

Bruce, "pressure" must remain the input from the pump and "ex" is drain to
the tank, so only leaves two options for lines A or B. The handle can be
moved in 90* increments if I remember right. Blow through the valve (or use
your blow off gun on your compressor) in through the pressure port and see
which a or b it comes out. Verify handle position and pick the port that is
an "output" when the handle is up and connect this to the line going to your
forward (rod end) of your cylinders. The down handle "output" port will be
plumbed to the rear (piston end) of all your cylinders.
