To all Murphy Moose builders who are considering a new M14P engine there has
been a price increase from the factory.

M-14P-XDK engine ------ $24,350.00 360 HP, dress kit, propeller shaft with
western flange, vacuum pump drive, tach drive and
50 AMP Skytronics alternator/regulator.

M-14PF-XDK engine ----- $25,350.00 400 HP, dress kit, propeller shaft with
western flange, vacuum pump drive, tach drive and 50 AMP Skytronics
alternator/regulator.

M-14P-XEDK engine ----- $25,300.00 360 HP, electric start (no air start), no
compressor, propeller shaft with western flange,
vacuum pump drive, tach drive 50 AMP Skytronics alternator/regulator.

M-14P-XSDK engine ----- $26,400.00 360 HP with air and electric starter,
propeller shaft with western flange, vacuum pump
drive, tach drive 50 AMP Skytronics alternator/regulator.

M-14PF-XEDK engine ---- $26,300.00 400 HP, electric start (no air start), no
compressor, propeller shaft with western flange,
vacuum pump drive, tach drive 50 AMP Skytronics alternator/regulator

M-14PF-XSDK engine ---- $27,4000.00 400 HP, with air and electric starter,
propeller shaft with western flange, vacuum pump
drive, tach drive 50 AMP Skytronics alternator/regulator.

Note 1: All engines include Western fluid fittings, two magnetos,
carburetor, fuel pump oil pump, specialty tool kit

Note 2: 10% deposit required wit all orders. Delivery within 60 days of
order.

Note 3: One year factory warranty. The warranty starts in 5 years from
delivery or when the engine enters service as determined by the issuance of
an airworthiness certificate, which ever occurs first.

This price increase is primarily driven by the increased cost of the parts
that the factory must buy from Russian sources. These parts have increased
in cost to them by a factor of about 5 on average. They are trying to gear
up to make many of the parts that they had to purchase.

They have a limited supply of some parts. Primarily the carburetors and cam
disks. The factory that made the original carburetors is no longer in
production. They now make furniture and no at the factory remembers how to
make the carburetors. The tooling was all scrapped as well. We are
investigating replacing the Russian pressure carb with a fuel injection
system. We are also looking to other sources for the carburetors.

The factory was dependant on Russian sources for oil pumps, fuel pumps,
magnetos and air compressors. They now make new parts for air compressors
and are capable of overhauling air compressors to factory new
specifications. Gesoco has purchased the special tooling, and parts to
rebuild the air compressors.

The engine factory has gone through a re-organization and a name change. It
will be known as MOTORSTAR instead of AEROMOTORS.

There have been some rumors that the engines that they supplied are not new
engines. This is false. I have been to the factory and seen how the engines
are made. They have often used new old stock parts and rough castings in the
past. They are still using some old stock rough castings and some key new
old stock parts. Most of the parts are now manufactured in house. This
includes the cylinders. There was a period that they were unable to obtain
new oil pumps in time to make delivers and shipped a few engines with oil
pumps remanufactured to new specifications. I recently learned of this and
am now offering new pumps to those customers.

We were amazed at the testing that the factory does on each engine. They
assemble the engine. They then run it in by driving it with an electric
motor for several hours. During this run in they pump oil through the engine
and monitor the metallic contact of the oil. They then put the engine on a
test stand and run it for a few hours. They then disassemble the engine and
inspect all parts for ware. They also magnaflux and x-ray some of the
critical parts. They then re assemble the engine, run it in again with the
electric motor then put it back on the test stand. The engine is then run
for an hour and all the performance data is taken and recorded in the log
book.

Lastly, The factory either has or can obtain enough parts to produce about
50 new engines. At the current sales rate this is about one and one half
years supply of new engines. This includes the engines supplied to Aerostar
for the New Yak-52TW. We are all working on finding new sources of supply to
continue building new engines for the next decade.

Gesoco is offering a non aerobatic engine for the Moose and other utility
type aircraft. The engine is available in the 360 hp version. Gesoco some
time ago purchased 60 first time run out (about 500 hrs TT) M14P-V26
engines. These were used on the Kamov helicopter. The Motorstar factory is
the same factory that originally manufactured these engines. They have
disassembled the engines and between the parts available in stock, some new
manufactured parts and the salvaged parts are able to make some engines to
new limits. They will be tested the same as all the new engines. They will
carry the same factory warranty. They will NOT have the inverted oil systems
as the M14P engines. They will be offered as electric start only engines
with western fittings, western propeller flange, skytronics alternator and
vacuum pump adapter. We are planning to offer these for around $16,000 if
anyone is interested.
