Moose/Rebel Strut Farings

Hi Don !

I've done the same on the Rebel - works great ! The
(~ .025) Lexan is easy to cut cold, with snips, or saw, or
Dremel tool, or ... ;-) :-) The ease of working, plus
the ability to see bolts for preflight makes this a great
idea ! You can put an extra fold at the back to get
the rivet heads inside for cleaner look. I use fabric
rivets, hoping the larger head will spread the load a bit
and make a better joint.

Have also done full size fairings in Lexan - didn't
work as well, as crazing developed from flexing. Should have
used thicker Lexan, I guess !

fairing stop at the bolts. Originally my plan was to paint them on the
inside so they would have the gloss lexan on the outside, but leaving them
clear lets me preflight them with a glance.

Hi all, I have cut out the Murphy supplied paper patterns for the strut
farings. Before cutting the 025 stock to shape i thought I'd ask how these
have
fit for anyone who has made these. Should i make them oversize and fit or
do the
patterns fit fairly well with minimal material removal to get a nice
clean
fit to the wing bottom and fuselage. Thanks in advance for any comments.
