Just a heads up that our Midland Annual Ski Flyin is scheduled for
Saturday
Feb 7th 10am to 1pm.

BBQ Lunch (hamburger/hot dog), coffee/pop and a good fire going for sure!

I will keep you up to date as to whether we are able to go that day or
have
to postpone due to incliment weather etc.

Location will be the same as last year against the Northern Shore of
Midland
Harbour (in front of Morgan Williams Sr residence).

There is a light "notch" in the shoreline just before it rounds the corner
to more open waters. This is where you will find us and I will have a
mult-coloured windsock out on the ice held up by a large orange traffic
cone. Try to read the snowmobile tracks and land accordingly. Generally a
pretty smooth stretch between these trails and the shore.

Anyone needs driving directions, or more details, please send me an email
to
oifa@irishfield.on.ca

If you want to arrive via GPS, fly to my airfield at N44-47-906
W079-53-434..... then circle and pick up the concession road heading to
the
South away from my gate towards Midland Harbour. As you hit the shoreline
we
will be right below your right wing!

Hope to see you all (t)here,
Wayne

Midland Ski Flyin

There's no real definite snowmobile track, like I used to land my C182 on
all the time out by the provincial park, so will have to wait till it's
really close to the 7th and let you know what the ice is like. Hasn't been a
lot of snow lately (except for 10" last night and still snowing today) so
hard to say what might happen in the next 3 weeks. It's rarely clean ice out
there though (being sheltered on the North shore), but two years ago all the
lakes around here where in Feb and guys on skis literally slid for a mile
after touch down. Got pretty dangerous at a local hunt camp with guys
sliding for an extra 1000+ feet >AFTER< turning their engines off!!.. with a
few very near misses for hitting parked aircraft ....that we had pushed out
of the way as tight to the shoreline as we could!
