I thought I would send this message to the list this time. The HAPPY99.EXE
"virus" has been springing up a lot again lately. I put virus in quotes
because it's not really a virus. It is an executable program that when run
will modify you mail system so that anytime you send an e-mail to anyone, a
second e-mail message is sent with the HAPPY99.EXE file attached. As long
as you do not run the file attachment it can not harm your system. As far
as that goes, this is not a destructive "virus", but it does add a second
e-mail just over 10KB in size everytime you write a message, so this could
slow down your mail sending considerably.

Any current virus software should be able to detect and remove this virus
from your system. Remember... if you recieve a file attachment from an
unknown source... just delete it! You are never going to receive anything
of even reasonable value from an anonymous source. This is how the
HAPPY99.EXE "virus" is devious, you probably will get it from a friend or
associate, and they don't even know that they sent it to you.
