Jeffrey,

You wrote "I also plan to install angles (3/4 x 3/4 x/
1/8) under the floor from firewall to carrythough near the engine mount
brackets".

I got this idea from Murray Cherkas - to use sections of witches hat riveted
fore/aft along the external side of the floor panel to stiffen it. I think it
is more aesthetically pleasing, but probably more expensive, than using angle.

I posted a couple of photos to the archives under Rebel-Fuselage.

Just thought I would throw the idea out to you as an option & information.

Rebel Floor Stiffener (was Engine Mount Torque Values)

Dave,

The source is Murphy Aircraft. Rebel Part #FUS-12. These are the same witches
hat sections that are supplied for the firewall stiffener on the Rebel. I
don't have my purchase receipts here at home, but I think Murphy charged me
approx $30 (a guess) for enough to make the floor stiffeners.

Aircraft Spruce sells something similiar. Their "hat section aluminum
stringers" appear dimensionally smaller and appear to have a rolled flange
rather than a flat flange.

Hope this helps.

Dave, these are about 3" wide with a 3/4" flange each side and then the rest
bent exactly what the description implies....bent to look like a pointed
witches hat if viewed from an end. Not the Wing stringer material you were
looking for on RAA national. If you are looking for this witches hat
material, as well as your wing stringer material, I have a few 6' lengths of
something bent fairly similar (in 2024T3) that is used on Pipers.
