Metal Thickness

I wonder if someone could tell me the thickness of the 6061 used for the
trail edge of the flaps/ailerons. When I measure with the venire I read
0.040" . The reason for asking is that I made a mistake and have three
pairs of holes to close together. I had order three new main aileron
ribs (AIL-23, @ $21 per rib) and asked about the trailing edge. The
person filling the order said it would cost a good deal more then the
price of the rib. I can then get the material and try bending it.

Gary,

Have you checked out the trailing edge material sold by Aircraft Spruce?
$11.65 for a 12 foot length.

Sorry I can't answer this for you as mine are covered but I did not
think they were that thick. If they are then it is not real easy to put
a nice radiused bend in a 6 foot long piece of metal. Most brakes won't
do a bend that tight and the metal springs back somewhat after you bend
it as well. I've made a lot of replacement parts but I'd price this part
from MAM (including shipping) before deciding what to do. It is
satisfying to know that an error has been properly corrected. Sounds
like you've ruled out the possibility of rivetting a doubler inside the
piece that you have to either cover the problem holes, or to make your
existing part a bit longer on the far end from the control horn?
