wing mounting

Hi Rallph
When putting the wings on the Elite the idea is to set the for and aft
location based on the rear spar fitting as you do not want any bending or
preload of the fittings. It is best to put the tail up and to level the
airplane as the weight of the wing will cause it to slide back. You may find
that the wings have different front and rear gaps inside the cage main spar
attach points don't worry about it the airplane will not know the difference
and it will fly just fine. Make your spacers up so they fit snug between the
front spar and the cage as you do not want to bend the attach points on the
fuselage or have the wing move

Sean's got it "pegged" there Ralph. Rear fittings tight and straight, and
spacers up front to keep it this way, then tightened. Some builds seem to
end up with the front wing fitting tight to the forward inside face of the
carrythrough and only a spacer at the rear, and others need spacers front
and back.

BUT, you Moose guys remember that the front spar attach fitting is to be
tight in the carrythrough and spaced so that the Rear attach fitting is
centered and >FLOATING< inside the fuselage fittings. NOT HELD TIGHT!
Bolt/nut is to be tightened only to be snug, allowing the fuselage fittings
to stay parrallel to each other. This leaves a small float gap on either
side of the wing fitting and allows the loads to be transfered to the front
spar fus carrythrough, instead of the rear fuselage attach carrythrough.

Ralph:
I shimmed the front wing attach point with washers.I filed a washer down so
that it fit snuggly in but not to tight. this allowed me to tighten the
bolt. BTW MAM's 16 bolt is not long enough. I used a 17 length bolt here.

Good luck
Murray
