I have most of the parts for my air system but overlooked the air fill
valve. Anyone know exactly what these are or where you can get them. AN
high pressure strut valve? Most of my searches end up on high pressure air
paintball sites but haven't found one that sells the fill nipple, just
covers.

If it does end up being a high pressure strut valve Scott, I have an NOS box
of them!

I need $17.50 each for them.

I believe the threads on these are 1/2" x 20tpi, but can check/confirm this
if they're what you need.

Hi Scott,

We purchased our air system from Jim Kimball and it is installed.

The "Schrader" Valve is visible near the main tank valve in the picture.
It has a 1/8 pipe thread at its base. I believe the printing on the valve
says Rockport 900 which I take to mean 900 PSI but not sure. I am trusting
that Kimball has selected a valve of appropriate rating.

I found the Schrader AN-812-1 listed in the Schrader Catalog (see below)
with a working pressure of 2,000 PSI which uses a .500-20 Thread. Wayne has
indicated he has these available. It would seem to be a good choice. We
elected to stay with what Kimball supplied because the 1/8 pipe thread work
well in the spot we choose to relocate the valve to.

To fill the tank via the Schrader we found two styles of High-Pressure
Inflating Connections. Both good to 3000 PSI generically I believe they are
called Dill Valves

Schrader Numbers: From a local tire specialists Schrader Catalog
556 and 6116

Dill Numbers
9043 and SK-2043-C

Most likely will will use the 9043 at the end of a hose connected to a
"Scuba" tank of some sort to do our initial fill(s) and to carry as a back
up till the system demonstrates reliability.

We made one addition to Kimball's system. Instead of turning the tank valve
off to "quarentee" not loss of air over time we elected to install an air
tank isolation valve adjasent to the tank. It is a 3000 PSI ball valve
operated with a push pull cable connected to the lever arm. The valve is
connected directly to the air tank with a hose aprox 6-8" long.

Hi Scott,
As usual, I've taken a different path. From the air tank (under passenger floor board) I go directly into a Swagelock '3 way' valve. This is a ball valve with a bottom inlet and two outlets, allowing selection of either port. The valve is a 2Kpsi unit. I mounted this valve on the floor, adjacent to my fuel selector valve, just in front of the flap handle. The front port goes to the engine systems. The rear port is piped down, to a 9/16-18 fill port on a bulkhead fitting on the belly. This port is directly beneath the valve and will be easily accessible. In compressed gas lingo, it's a 'B nut' fitting.

Logic is as follows; When tank empty, connect a line from a fill tank to the belly fitting, select rear position and fill the onboard tank. When not flying, select neither port, isolating the tank from the rest of the system's potential leaks. When flying, select forward position to allow start and charging of the tank. At the end of the day, since nothing is connected to the belly fitting, momentarily select rear port to 'blow snot' from the tank.

I used all Swagelock fittings, except for the 9/16-18 fill port, which is the same connection used for Oxygen fill ports on King Airs and the like. We sell these pieces as "regulator bushings". Cost is about $2. An added benefit is that I could rig up a short hose to inflate my own tires or blow up my Otto Pilot. Just connect to the belly port. Before anyone strokes out about using an Oxygen fitting, on the secondary side, this fitting is used for a bunch of stuff, not just Oxygen. Besides, I'm hoping that no one will be stupid enough to charge their air system with Oxygen! If any have considered such, DON'T. I would probably start, but I suspect that start would be a glorious spectacle.

Giday, Don. Could you please say how big that tank is in the picture? I'm trying to get some feeling
for the overall size of the components. Further, Is there any link to a site which might provide an
overview of all the components that need to be involved to install a MP 14 in a Moose? I will be putting
a Housai in my Fairchild project and know very little about what's involved. Failing a link to a site, when
you get a chance, could you give a short dissertation on this forum of what needs to be included?
Always trying to look ahead, I'd like to reserve space now. Thanks.

Scott,

We have, in stock, the air fill valves we use in our systems. I do not know
the price but they are pretty inexpensive. Somewhere in this thread I read
the system pressure at 700psi. Actually, it is 50 atmospheres or approx.
750psi. We usually set our systems at 850 so that after the tank and air inside it
cools to ambient temps, we still have 750+ psi in the tank.
