Fife Elite wing tips

As far as I know Dave Fife is still looking for constructed Elite wings
to use for design of a set of tips. Us "Elitists" would like to see
that happen as they would be a big improvement.

PS - If you have ever wondered why MAM has you leave out the 3 3/16"
stainless rivets in the front of the upper forward carry through gusset
it is to back drill for the cabin roof bulkhead clips that are not
mentioned anywhere in my Elite manual. Be sure to rivet the 6 (total
both sides) rivets before the triangular braces at either side of the
glare shield make it impossible to get the outer ones.

I believe the Rebel and Elite use the same wing rib. There should be no
reason Dave's tips would not work on both. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

While the wings may be the same, the ailerons are not

Fife Elite wing tips

There are all kinds of clips not mentioned in the Elite manual. Basically,
the rule is put clips at every joint that would otherwise be unsupported.
Also, it's advisable to put a couple of ST-31s fore and aft under the
baggage compartment floor, 8" either side of the fuselage centre line.

If Dave Fife reads this, I am still interested in being a guinea pig for his
tips. I am at the stage of bolting the wings and fuselage together. The
Elite ailerons do have faily massive spades which the tips will have to
accommodate. The factory tips don't seem to make allowance for the 5*
reflex netraul position of the ailerons, which promises to be a pain. Dave,
presumably your tips take care of this problem?

Ralph, could you give us a chapter and line reference on this so we can
annotate our manuals and look for this problem before we mess it up? Thanks,
