I uploaded a picture of my rebel (in float section)at the Pemberton airport.
Notice behind the bushes on the right side the wing tip of a Cesnna 172. There
were 4 planes with water halfway up to there windshield. I had mine tied down
down to some logging cable which it was able to lift up when the river
flooded. The current was about 2-3 kts and a picnic table had floated up
against the 172. I moved my plane to higher ground and tied it down it case
the water keeps coming higher but I will have to fly it out if it gets much
higher

Yeah, they just showed the Pemberton airport under
water on the news. Unbelievable!! Hope your plane
doesn't get swept away. I see that both Whistler and
Pemberton are cut off from the outside world with
bridges washed out on all sides.
It actually stopped raining here today in Vancouver,
but we sure had our share the last few days.
Also saw on the Seattle news, water running across a
highway, and people catching salmon with their hands,
as they cross the road. And I had to go all the way to
Echo Bay for that...

Subru and the NSI propellor working. Could you give us some performance numbers,

We didn't hear back from Ray, but I understand the river rose
even higher since he checked in. A lot of roads are washed out,
too. Hope his plane survived. The wheel guys certainly didn't.
Looks like the floods have peaked though. Here's a link to show
the current water level. Then change the start year to 2001 to
show normal levels, and you will see just how severe this flood
is.

parts, and we are supposed to be used to a lot of rain. They
don't call this the wet coast for nothing. And this is after a
severe drought and forest fires this past summer. So what will

me. I believe you had an early kit too. Mine is late 93 and 94.

Mine's #243R and it came with a 5/16th bearing. I also know 230R had a 5/16
and come to think of it Howard's 155R is 5/16. Heck I don't think I've seen
a 1/4" bearing even in 086R.

Hi all
Checked my plane today, high and dry. Feel sorry for the other guys they are
probably looking at a $5-$10K engine check/rebuild. My truck wasn't so lucky
though, seems to have sucked water into the intake and is siezed, had to have
it towed back home. Need to fly down to Vancouvewr tuesday or wednesday so
might be the first water takeoff off of CYPS. Things are looking better here
but part of the dyke was washed away and hasn't been repaired with more rain
to come.
as to the preformance of the Subaru. I like it it , no oil consumption, very
smooth, just wind noise int he cockpit (that I need to deal with. The Cap prop
with the stainless steel leading edge is working great. Still waiting for the
Tec3 electronic ignition upgrade and vaccum pump. As to preformance, when I
had it re certified TC asked if I want to increase the GW and of course I said
Yes, so I might be the only Rebel legally flying at 2G. And what does it do at
the new gross, I get abot 500 ft/min at that weight, just me about 1000
service ceiling 11,000 + not sure yet and that was a hot day. People on the
ground comment on how quite it is, Not at all like a 185 taking off. Highest
lake so far at gross is Tynaughton 3259' with a couple hundred ft to spare
over the trees at the end (remeber that walter). And shutting down it looks
like a turbine with the free wheeling prop.

float fitting fairings do? I need to clean up up alot of drag all over the
place on mine. As soon as lance has the vacuum pumps and Tec3 ignition

think they would allow it if they new the factory only specified 1732.5 lb. on

Yes Ray, I'd like to hear more about your TWO THOUSAND lb approved gross
weight and the climb test report that was submitted to Transport Canada to
obtain it, as well as the TC inspectors name that put it through, since you
didn't change the aircraft model to a "Raymond Special" during the original
build in 1994... to remove you (and TC) from being bound to the kit design
specs.
In reality you have changed the ultimate design failure load of the original
1650lbs from 6g's to 4.95g's at your 2000 lbs and safe design load from 4.8
to 3.96.... so no where near the 2G "scare factor" you threw out (unless you
operate well beyond the weight that you have managed to get the aircrafts
paperwork to allow).

to 3.96.... so no where near the 2G "scare factor" you threw out (unless you
operate well beyond the weight that you have managed to get the aircrafts
paperwork to allow).

reduced to 3.3 g's at 2000lb. Still not reduce to 2g's, but I hope there's

#1 reason to have amphibs ?
Hey Ray, don't get me wrong I'm not on your case! Just jealious you actually
have the paperwork to do what just about everyone on amphibs is doing
anyhow!! Most Rebels are approaching or over 1200lbs empty on amphibs. Then
add 2 x 200lb pilots, full fuel of 44gal = 264lb and that alone is 1864lb
before you strap on the portaboat and 2 weeks provisions in the back!
Just curious why your TC guy was willing to ignore their own rules and
pointing out that any design safety margin is gone when operating at these
weights.

Hi wayne
It was TC who asked if I wanted it increased when I had it re certified with
the subaru EJ-22(ea81 in it before). I did all the power and loading calcs and
it worked out ok so they approved it. When I did my climb test it was 82 deg F
and it passed by a couple of hundred ft. I know everyone flys OG which will
invalidate your insurance if there is a accident which was the only reason I
wanted it bumped. My rebel manual has a +5.7 load at 1650 100% rated which
would be +4.7 at 2000. In rough air and we get lots, I power back to 60knts so
it would stall out before hitting those G's. I think MAM needs to address this
issue as if I had 400lbs of pilot/pass I would only be able to put 12 gal in
the tank = 2hours less reserve = I couldn't go very far
