Hi all, I agree with Warren in Dubai, let Larry have his say, but at the
same time I wonder what is wrong with his "delete" button?
There is not much interest for me to read about SR's, straight and
amphibious floats, but I scan these messages anyway, who knows I might
learn something. If it is purely social info or info I can't use, it
takes but a fraction of a second to delete.
I still find it very remarkable that we only hear from a very few
builders, I am going to keep asking: "what happened to all the others?"

G'day Geert & fellow Rebellers ... (That means Renegade's, Elite's SR's,
Moose's
& other types too !

I too remain a member of the chat group ... mainly to catch that odd /
occasional revelation that may be pertinent to our Rebel ... which is (was)
flying for the last two years now ...... (fitting new engine at present).

Even though we receive anything from 20 to 50 emails a night (mainly SPAM
I might add), it's little effort to hit the delete button if the subject is
not relevant to us & our plane !

I'm still monitoring the list - but haven't worked on the Rebel in about a
year. Having a little trouble getting motivated again but I think it's time
to get back on it. One more push should finish up the airframe.
Everything's done except the fuse and it's done up to the carrythrough.
I'm sure you guys will hear more from me as I get the project rolling
again...

Hello all. I'm about 75%?? done constructing my SR 3500, but I've been rather
distracted with other things for the last year: I bought a Piper
Tripacer 1.5 years ago (It's more distracting than I thought it would be.), I'm
building a landing strip at my cottage (Also, a lot more work than I thought!),
and I've also been catching up on major things at the house and cottage that I
have ignored for the past three years while building. I hope to get back in
high gear constructing this fall and winter. Maybe have it flying by next
fall.... Maybe this is just wishful thinking!
I have a Continental IO-520 with constant speed Harzel Prop and Aqua
3100 floats. Once flying, it should provide a challenging distraction from the
Tripacer.

Hello all,
I think many people (myself included) visit the site every day or so but
don't feel they can answer the questions as good as the few that usually do.
This group has a reputation of correctly answering questions and I for one
would not want to upset this.
This site was extremely useful in the building stage and continues to be
useful as a source for safety concerns for those that are putting the hours on.

Speaking of that, 0145R now has well over 100 flights (and that many hours)
and the little Subaru EA-81 is running great. I took it on a short x-country
down to the shore of Lake Erie the other day and landed at Chatham regional
airport (South Western Ontario, Canada) where a planned group of homebuilders
fired questions at me for over an hour. There were so many questions that my
father (who I took along) starting taking the answer load off me. Great bunch
of guys!
Now that I have put on 100+ hours I can honestly say that I believe 0145R
is rigged to the optimum C-of-G for flight. At 850lbs empty, she will hang in
the sky at 60mph with the prop turning a mere 1400 rpm, with no tendency to
return to earth. 90% of my flying is at 90 mph, 3700 engine rpm (little under
1700 prop rpm), which allows the wings to fly, true (horizontal to the
horizon) and seems to be the most comfortable speed for me and the plane. 4300
rpm one the Subaru will push 0145R to almost 120mph but it sure doesn't feel
comfortable. If anyone is taking the smaller engine route for this plane, I
would be glad to help out in any way I can. I am always looking for things to
change or improve but the engine airframe setup I will leave alone, it works
really well for me!

Soft landings everyone ,wish all mine were :-o

Mike,
Engine, Re-drive, Starter, carb adapter plate carb mixture control all from
Karlo Kuhner from Montreal Canada. This man is very honest and calls regularly
to keep in touch with his customers. Prices were very resonable back when I
bought.

Let me know if you need more info.
Where are you located Mike?

Same thing correct spelling..

I amend my previous suggestion : - from now on all subjects will be the same
"Larry and others"

:)

Scott

Joking, but it would be nice if the subject had some meaning.

Mike,
Engine, Re-drive, Starter, carb adapter plate carb mixture control all
from
Karlo Kuhner from Montreal Canada. This man is very honest and calls
regularly
to keep in touch with his customers. Prices were very resonable back when I
bought.

Let me know if you need more info.
Where are you located Mike?

Hi Mike

The 1.8 liter EA81 is a great engine but for comparison it is heavier
and no more power than your 912S was. It is also out of production
although so far parts are still readily available AFAIK. The only Kuhner
drive that I've seen reversed the prop rotation.

I guess you are aware of the RAA alternate engine seminar on Sat. 20 Sep
in Kitchener. Might be worth attending ($10. includes lunch) :)
