Rick H. & Oshkosh

Post by David Ricker » Fri Feb 17, 2012 11:29 pm

Hi Rick

You're back!

How was your Oshkosh trip ? (and moto side trip.......yep, we have spies!)

What did you think of it as a first time visitor? How much did you get the
chance to see? What was the best part?

By the way guys, I heard through the grapevine that Rick made a big impression
on the locals, I had the pleasure to have a long chat with Bob P. Friday night
at the Stanley fly-in/Ramble stopover and it sounds like Rick had a great time,
gave me regrets for not being there too.

Rick, if you do a story for your local magazine, I would encourage you to share
it with us, I'll bet it would be a good one.

Well, just wanted to say hi,

Cheers,

Dave

Rick H. & Oshkosh

Post by David Ricker » Fri Feb 17, 2012 11:29 pm

G'day back Rick, good to hear from you!

Sounds like Oskosh is like I heard, just too much to cram into the time
available, phenomenal! Yeah, I think I would want to see the part you wanted to
too, ........some day.

Well, I guess I heard the shortened version of the "Rick visits Oshkosh"
stories, I didn't even hear about the Oz "dress code" details. I just heard you
had a ball and that even your mates from down under had a hard time keeping up
with you, they thought you were the Eveready Bunny (just keeps going, and going,
and going...........an advert we have here on TV)

The Harley factory sounds interesting, my dad rode Harleys when they were the
big touring bike rather than the "rebel" image they have now. What did you make
of the Boss Hogs, I saw one and it is kind of hard to believe they attached two
wheels onto that big V8! Looks like it would be a hand full!

Apart from a few distractions (work etc.) we have been making good progress on
the Elite, you know I am still pumped from when we visited you so a big thanks!
Apart from the tail parts, we have gotten one wing ready for pre-closing (inc.
the tank fun) and the other is in the garage/paint shop for the pre-assembly
priming so it won't be long before we are building flap/ailerons then the
fuselage. Sounds easy when you say it like that doesn't it?

Well, that is about it, good to hear from you & say hi to Wendy for us,

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Rick

You're back!

How was your Oshkosh trip ? (and moto side trip.......yep, we have spies!)
Oshkosh was a HOOT ! :) :) :) .... But my feet have not forgiven me yet :(
Had an ingrown toenail surgically removed a few days back (yep .. it flared
up AT Oshkosh !)

What did you think of it as a first time visitor?
EXCELLENT, really well organized, fabulous job done by the ARMY of
volunteers !
How much did you get the chance to see?
Saw LOTS ... but I'm sure we missed lots too ... walked solid for 6 of the 7
days ... (went to the Harley factory & Boss Hoss showrooms on the other day
:) )
What was the best part?
I reckon the best part is the part that you WANT to see the most ... I
wanted to see ALL of it !

By the way guys, I heard through the grapevine that Rick made a big
impression
on the locals,
OK ...what KIND of "impression" did I leave ??? :)
(I thought I was doin' OK ... until I stood up, on the seats, to film the
people at the Friday night "International Do" .... When my "mates" pulled my
shorts down while I was filming ... a tad embarrassing )
I had the pleasure to have a long chat with Bob P. Friday night
at the Stanley fly-in/Ramble stopover and it sounds like Rick had a great
time,
gave me regrets for not being there too.
Gotta be In it to win it ! ... so the saying goes :)

Rick, if you do a story for your local magazine, I would encourage you to

it with us, I'll bet it would be a good one.
Haven't done one yet ... but I'll get there soonish ...been very busy since
getting home & our side fence blew over in a huge wind last week ... another
job I didn't need to do :(

Well, just wanted to say hi,
GREAT to hear from you, say G'day to Francine from me & Wendy too !
Hows the Elite comin along ???
(we're in the middle of fitting an IO-320 to 541R)

Cheers,

Dave
